Like all pilgrimages, the Lakeland Pilgrimage is an intentional journey. Rather than focusing on a destination of religious significance, it seeks to engage the pilgrim with the natural wonders of the Lake District. It presents a wonderful opportunity to connect on a deep level with a small part of the world; to find the extraordinary in the ordinary; to be energised by the intensity of the experience; and to find peace.
It is a time to do nothing 'productive', to be renewed and recharged, and to experience deep peace in the hills. It is a chance to develop a heightened awareness of your surroundings, to feel part of the landscape you are moving through, letting the mountain speak and likely sleeping on the mountain.

The journey is also an opportunity to develop natural rhythms, to be rooted
and to engage with a small part of the world. In traveling, we better
understand where we come from and if we look, we can find more beauty
and meaning in the everyday, seeing that the
world truly is a weird and wonderful place.
