Pike O Stickle Cave Treasure Trove - Mystery of life

Character: A unique feature of the Lake District consisting of a Neolithic axe factory, nestled into the side of a conical peak and approached by a horribly loose scree chute.

Approach: Although you can take a shorter route from the Old dungeon Ghyll Hotel, this is not recommended, being a steep and arduous slog up slippy scree.  Much better is to take the path from the New Dungeon Ghyll Hotel almost to the top of Pike O Stickle. An obvious scree gully lies just before the final summit cone.  Make your way down this carefully. The cave appears on the right-hand side after about 80m of height loss.

Beneath the cave is a flat topped rock. The box is hidden in a crack in the rock.
